The Shed BBQ A Family Food Drinkery Gulfport, MS
The Memphis in May World Championship BBQ Competition awarded The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint, Ocean Springs a first place in the beef division and a first place in themed booth competition. The Shed was the only participant out of the 380 plus entrants to win two first places in the two day long event.
Located in Gulfport, MS The Shed brings a family country feel with great BBQ. I visited on a Wednesday and was greeted like family, they even invited us to stay after they closed to have a couple more drinks. Beer bar (no whiskey) and good food. This place has a couple of things you don’t find at normal restaurants. For one you can ask for a marker and write on anything you can find. Tables, chairs or walls. It is all clean so you don’t have to worry if you bring your kids. You can also sign a dollar and hang it on the wall (look for mine behind the bar over the door, Vince Indiana). The bartenders take the heat of a little smack talk as long as you keep it clean and can give it back as good. We had fun with Brittany. Tell her you heard she has a nice rack (ribs) as that is an on-going joke.
On the weekends they have live bands outside in a nice courtyard. Small but looks like I could have fun their. From my understanding they have some good Blues but my flight left Thursday morning so I didn’t get a chance to check it out.
I recommend stopping by if you are in town for a cold one and good food.
